Poetry Atlanta celebrates Marquez and Whitman in May


100 Readers of Solitude (VENUE CHANGE)
One hundred Atlanta-area readers who love the work of celebrated writer and Nobel Prize laureate Gabriel Garcia Marquez will gather on Sunday afternoon, May 18, at 1 p.m. at Kavarna Coffee House, 707 E. Lake Drive in Decatur, GA to honor the author of One Hundreds Years of Solitude and other internationally acclaimed works. Marquez died on April 17. Those who wish to read on Sunday may sign up and request a preferred time by emailing charles@pastemagazine.com. Poetry Atlanta is proud to be taking part in this special event.



Non-Stop Whitman
Join Poetry Atlanta on May 31, 7:30 p.m. at Java Monkey Coffee House, 425 Church St., in Decatur for this "non-stop" reading of Walt Whitman's Song of Myself. More than 30 local poets, writers and artists will be interpreting Whitman's classic. Come early to grab a seat!
